Simulation Engineer

Job Summary:
The Simulation Engineer will design, develop, and verify aircraft simulators for a variety of Scaled aircraft and concepts in a fast-paced research and development environment. The work includes creating 6DOF aircraft models, systems models, fault and failure models, conducting hardware/aircraft-in-the-loop simulations, and supporting training and test planning activities. This work will include both software and hardware aspects and will span preliminary design, critical design, development, debugging, and post simulation data reduction.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Aerodynamic modeling and 6DOF aircraft simulation
• Development and verification of aircraft system models, including physical modeling, and integrating test data into system models
• Supporting flight crew training, handling qualities evaluations, ground and flight test planning
• Integrating ship avionics and flight hardware into HIL/AIL simulations
• Generating and maintaining wiring diagrams for simulator hardware
• Designing, developing, testing, and integrating software and hardware
• Complete product development with significant vertical responsibility
• Solving complicated problems with simple software/hardware solutions
• Supporting technicians and electricians
• Simultaneous work on multiple projects

Required:
• Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink
• Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills
• Strong knowledge of aerospace avionics and electrical technologies and products
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or substantial equivalent experience
• Ability to work in multiple engineering disciplines on an aggressive schedule
• A minimum of three years of directly related work experience
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship

Aircraft Loads Engineer

Job Summary:
The Loads Engineer will be responsible for determination of aircraft flight and ground loads in a static and dynamic environments. This work will be in support of design, build, and test of a prototype experimental aircraft in a fast-paced research and development environment. The work will span conceptual to detail design of structure & systems and flight test support.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Define and validate aircraft flight and ground loads.
• Create load cases based on system failure analysis
• Compare & reduce load sets through sound enveloping criteria (generating cross-plots/envelopes)
• Post process dynamic loads output and develop equivalent static load cases
• Cross check loads used for detailed structure sizing against global aircraft external loads
• Participate in the engineering review, approval, and release process.
• Review vehicle operations, procedures, envelopes and limits to ensure flight and test team compliance with design requirements
• Supporting ground and flight test planning, test execution, and aircraft modifications
• Working on multiple projects at the same time

Required:
• Experience creating & evaluating aircraft load sets
• Experience with FAR Part 25/23, MIL, or EASA equivalent
• Firm understanding of shear and bending moment diagrams
• Skilled in Microsoft Office & Matlab type tools
• Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong team player
• Ability to work in multiple engineering disciplines on an aggressive schedule
• A minimum of three years of directly related work experience
• Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an accredited institution

Aeronautical Engineer – Flutter

Job Summary:
The Flutter Engineer will be responsible for flutter analysis and ground/flight testing of prototype experimental aircraft in a fast-paced research and development environment. The work will focus on managing analysis and ground vibration testing, selection, and installation of flight test flutter instrumentation and exciters, and real time review of flight test data to allow progression through aircraft envelope expansion testing. This individual will support flight test planners in the development of test points for flutter flight testing. The flutter engineer is ultimately responsible for ensuring the safe progression of the vehicle through the flutter test envelope.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Supervising flutter analysis efforts, typically as a subcontracted effort
• Supervising ground vibration test efforts, typically as a subcontract effort
• Selection of flight test instrumentation and flutter excitation devices, and specifying installation of such on the aircraft
• Writing the flutter test plan, including assisting flight operations with the development of build-up flight test speed/altitude points to demonstrate the aircraft can safely operate within the full design envelope
• Manning the control room during flight test flutter points and providing real time data analysis and go/no-go approval to proceed to the next test point
• Post test data reduction and analysis, and documenting the data and conclusions in a report
• Work on multiple projects at the same time

Required
• Experience with ground vibration testing (GVT), correlation of GVT data with structural Finite Element models, and use of this model for flutter analysis
• Experience in flutter analysis, instrumentation, test techniques, and practices as applicable to aircraft flight testing and envelope expansion
• Ability to manage subcontract analysis efforts
• A minimum of five years of directly related aircraft work experience, preferably in the fields of flutter, aeroelastics, or structural dynamics
• Strong understanding of aircraft performance and flight testing
• Proficiency in 3D CAD, FEMAP, and Matlab
• Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills
• Strong team player
• Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
• Ability to work in multiple engineering disciplines on an aggressive schedule
• Proof of U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DOD clearance

The work will span conceptual to detail design, part and assembly design, system design, manufacturing support, and flight test support. Typically, this work includes design and manufacture of the primary structural elements and their integration into the overall vehicle.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Design the primary and secondary load paths for the vehicle
• Conceptual design, structural layout, sizing, and detail design
• Generation of fabrication and assembly work instructions
• Create 3D/2D definition of parts, assemblies and installations.
• Stress analysis using classical and finite element methods
• Establish manufacturing tolerances for production of structural components
• Participate in the engineering review, approval, and release process.
• Review of manufacturing plans and procedures to ensure compliance with design requirements
• Creation of structural test plans which will be used to verify manufacturing processes meet design intent and requirements.
• Hands-on manufacturing and assembly support
• Supporting ground and flight test planning, test execution, and aircraft modifications
• Working on multiple projects at the same time

Required:
• Foundation knowledge of aircraft load paths and structural sizing
• A strong understanding of composite manufacturing and assembly
• Proficiency in GD&T

The Stress Analyst is ultimately responsible for ensuring the vehicle structural design meets requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Performs stress analysis using classical and finite element methods
• Reviews, updates, and compiles engineering analytical definition of structural components and assemblies based on records from the build
• Develops standardized analysis criteria and templates
• Supports review of manufacturing plans and procedures to ensure compliance with design and loads requirements
• Supports the creation of structural test plans which will be used to verify manufacturing
• Pre-processing and post-processing of finite element models
• Evaluating impact to structural integrity of design changes and damage, and determining appropriate modification/rework schemes

Job Summary:
The Mechanical Systems Stress Analyst will support the design, build, and testing of prototype experimental aircraft in a fast-paced research and development environment. This individual is responsible for ensuring vehicle structural design meets program mission requirements. The engineer is responsible for generating, maintaining, and running FEA models and reporting or interpreting the results for design engineers and program management.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Support design, build, and test efforts with stress analysis using classical and finite element methods
• Review, update, and compile engineering analytical definition of components and assemblies
• Evaluating impact to structural integrity of design changes and damage, and determining appropriate modification/rework schemes
• Use NASTRAN/FEMAP or comparable FEM codes to perform linear and nonlinear stress analysis
• Develop standardized analysis criteria and templates
• Support review of manufacturing plans and procedures to ensure compliance with design and loads requirements
• Working on multiple programs at the same time

Required:
• A strong understanding of aircraft mechanical systems manufacturing and assembly
• Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong team player
• Proficiency in 3D Computer Aided Design

Job Summary:
The Lead Stress Analyst Engineer will support the design, build, and testing of prototype experimental aircraft in a fast-paced research and development environment. This individual will lead vehicle stress analysis, including review of stress analysis reports and finite element models developed internally. This person will also be responsible for supporting design engineers. The Lead Stress Analyst Engineer is ultimately responsible for ensuring the vehicle structure design meets program mission requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Supports design, build, and test efforts with stress analysis in a rapid prototype environment.
• Leads other stress analysts setting priorities, maintaining schedule, and providing guidance on proper analysis methods.
• Reviews, updates, and compiles engineering analytical definition of structural components and assemblies based on records from the prototype build project
• Develops standardized analysis criteria and templates
• Supports the creation of structural test plans which will be used to verify manufacturing

Job Summary:
The Configuration Design Engineer will design, build, and test prototype experimental aircraft in a fast-paced research and development environment. The work will span preliminary design, part and assembly design, system design, manufacturing support, and flight test support.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Completing a variety of conceptual and preliminary design studies in a thorough, imaginative, and practical manner
• Perform trade studies (weight, performance, structural sizing, aerodynamics) along with modification of existing aircraft to include propulsion trades, payload trades, etc
• Develop and run sizing, aerodynamics, performance, and other codes
• Create and deliver customer presentations, engineering reports, specifications, and participate in proposal writing
• Supporting flight test planning, execution, and aircraft modifications
• Working on multiple projects at the same time

Required:
• Thorough understanding of aircraft sizing, performance, and stability and control
• Familiar with empirical references and standard texts (Hoerner, Raymer, Roskam, NACA papers)
• Experience with the design of flight vehicles or vehicle systems to a set of requirements or standards such as CFR 14 Part 23 and 25
• Strong knowledge of aerospace technologies and products

Job Summary:

The Structural Analyst is responsible for generating, maintaining, and running vehicle level FEA models and reporting or interpreting the results for design engineers and program management.

Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer will build and test prototype experimental aircraft in a fast-paced research and development environment. This role uses an applied knowledge of composite manufacturing to build complex aerospace vehicles. The work will focus on the manufacturing of sub-assembly level components, primarily of traditional composite construction, and bringing those sub-assemblies together into major assemblies efficiently. This individual will establish the manufacturing workflow and develop the documentation used for building composite parts. The engineer will oversee structural build and assembly to assure the built structure meets requirements, including the associated configuration management.

• Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
• Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes on shop floor

• Generation of fabrication and assembly work instructions
• Assures production adheres to quality control standards
• Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods
• Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
