Human Resources Generalist

Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing Human Resources related duties on a professional level while working closely with the HR team in supporting designated areas of the department. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: workers compensation, leaves of absence, employee relations/investigations, benefits administration, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance. This person will report to the Director of Human Resources and Senior Human Resources Generalist.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Processing and documenting all workers compensation claims, ensuring compliance with relevant policies, and procedures.
• Effectively coordinating all Leaves of Absence cases to include general administration, comprehensive case management and program compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA) and all related employment laws.
• Administrating various HR plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assisting in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
• Investigating employee relations matters and helping employees, supervisors, and department heads to settle work-related conflicts through advice, recommendation, corrective action, and progressive discipline.
• Implementing human resources programs by providing services that include talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations; completing personnel transactions.
• Developing positive work relationships through exemplary customer service skills.

Required Qualifications:
• Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior (PHR) Certified and/or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certified
• Must have a minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience with the Human Resources function including workers compensation, leaves of absence, and employee issues/investigations
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), HRIS (ADP preferred)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include a follow up/status update mindset and excellent active listening skills
• Proven practice of a high level of confidentiality and ethical behavior

Essential Job Functions:
• Requires mobility and the ability to bend and reach
• Move materials weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc.
• May infrequently require moving materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Manual dexterity and coordination are required (e.g., to operate computer keyboard)
• Vision at close distances and the ability to adjust focus
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to write for extended periods of time
